Draw Me Close

A beautiful song, Draw Me Close - Michael W. Smith

Draw me close to You
Never let me go
I lay it all down again
To hear You say that
I'm Your friend
You are my desire
No one else will do
'Cause nothing else could take Your place
To feel the warmth of Your embrace
Help me find the way
Bring me back to You...

You're all I want
You're all I've ever needed
You're all I want
Help me know you are near

Rearrangement of Youth Hall

I came to NLC to rearrange our youth hall today.
Drums are moved onto the stage,
and all the stereos are stacked at the back neatly.
So now, the whole worship team can stand on the stage.
Pastor can preach on the space in front next time
to have more interaction with us.
Chairs are arranged into two arcs facing the centre instead of three blocks.
It looks like... wings like eagles... if you could imagine.

After all when I tended to go back and stepped out the hall,
I found it was raining heavily outside,
having no choice but stay to see if the rain stops.
I was quite worried for some seconds,
then I thought of word of God,
"Cast all your anxiety on him because he cares for you."(1 Peter 5:7)
I calmed down, standing beside a window, and prayed to God in silence.
Surprisingly, when I refocused my eye sight back to the scene outside,
the rain has stopped.
Isn't it amazing that a heavy rain stops in seconds?
It is true that God hears our prayers.

Back from NDP show

Spending whole afternoon and evening
NDP show is an experience.
Gather at War Memorial Park at 4
Enter the Parade Area by 5
NDP starts by 6
a lot of shouting out of voice
and also Singapore flag waving
Hand Drumming
white and red Hearts

Saw helicopters, parachutes, tanks, fighters, launches, divers
and the parade troops are better than expected.

The atmosphere today is high
When 8:22 Singaporean taking their pledge, the scene was impressive.
Another thing is the firework at the end of the show was spectacular.

By the way, the gift pack was a surprise when getting into the show.
Though I feel fatigued in the end of the day.
Having dinner in Subway in CityLink Mall and back by 36.

XCL and School

Quite a long time never update my blog.
A lot of things take place after school starts.
Firstly, I, as one of the XCL Ex-Co, start designing the website.
Choosing Joomla 1.5 + Discuz 7.0.
Everything just start.
For convenience, I make my PC a LAMP server.
It took me days to solve problem debugging in localhost.
Luckyly, things are better now,
after having short of sleep for two weeks.

CA was very bad. A-maths and Chem both very simple but made mistakes.
Hopefully can still have an A1.

CCA is to restart by next week. I love choir.

Today
I received an email from scholarship sth to attend NE Show 09 this Sat.
Then I saw the emaillist in the receivers.
A thought came out from my mind.
I wrote an email to all of the scholars who attend this NE show.
Really got some replies.
I think I am changing myself as compare to the very first day in Singapore,
more outgoing, more humour, and more mixing around.

Just now
Shutao came here asked me what's wrong with his pascal program,
a program tend to solve sudoku problem violently.
I found I have been away from programming for another one month.
I have to wake up by now.
Do what I should do.

Refresh Camp 4.0 @ NLC

Just came back from the Metamorphoteens, Refresh Camp 4.0@Newton Life Church.
It was a two-days-one-night camp.
Its objective is "To understand developmental changes that youths go through so as to have a right relationship with God and people."

First time having a overnight camp with church. I did not manage to be there from the beginning and I missed the morning sessions. We played games in the afternoon.

One of the games is to use a piece of A4 paper and to tear it into a non-breaking ring for three person going through. We were advised to fold the paper first. I tears the paper from the folding, and going besides the edges of the paper, when coming back to the folding line, instead of breaking it but going perpendicularly for a short distance to make a U-turn, then going on further as following the previous steps. I was not doing meticulous and in the end it formed a ring enough for a man to walk through. Two among all completed the ring and mine was a bit smaller than the other.

We played another game witch is using plastic straws given and a few name-tag tape and three balloons to build a tallest structure.
I had TauHui (those soft and smooth bean curd, sweet taste) which I missed a lot during the afternoon tea. I learnt to play drums with my friends in the free time.

Pastor Vincent gave a sermon after dinner.
Scripture:
Philippians 1:9-11
9And it is my prayer that your love may abound more and more,B)"> with knowledge and all discernment, 10so that you may approve what is excellent,C)"> and so be pure and blamelessD)"> for the day of Christ, 11filledE)"> with the fruit of righteousness that comes through Jesus Christ,G)"> to the glory and praise of God.
I then wrote a letter to God, a new way expressing my feeling to God. I also wrote a letter to my parents.

The movie at the midnight brought me a good sleep in the sleeping back after that. I went out by my own in the morning, walked along the Newton Road for the first time, applied for Bus Concession Pass at Novena MRT station, and lastly took a bus back on time. After the devotion we cleaned up everything and ended up the camp.

Through the camp, I knew more about my church friends. As I talked to my friends, I feel true that God leads my way.

Jesus, Take the Wheel

Sometimes, we would feel nervous or hopeless,
There is a person who we can rely on -
Jesus!

Today after church I came back hostel early, listening some songs on YouTube, this wonderful song touched me.

Jesus, Take the Wheel

Jesus take the wheel
Take it from my hands
Cause I can't do this on my own
I'm letting go
So give me one more chance
Save me from this road I'm on
Jesus take the wheel

We often think we can do a lot of things by our own, we live by ourselves own but may be away from God, forget the part that God acts in our lives. But, we are not alone in this world. Jesus is with us! He cares us, waits us to go and seek Him. He is who we can rely on. He said, "Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest." We have no ability to do everything on our own, but as we do our best, He will do the rest.

And I remembered the last part of today's worship. I saw an eagle gliding on the screen. At that moment I realized, like eagles need air to support, men need Jesus. He strengthens us.

Isaiah 40
28 Do you not know?
Have you not heard?
The LORD is the everlasting God,
the Creator of the ends of the earth.
He will not grow tired or weary,
and his understanding no one can fathom.

29 He gives strength to the weary
and increases the power of the weak.

30 Even youths grow tired and weary,
and young men stumble and fall;

31 but those who hope in the LORD
will renew their strength.
They will soar on wings like eagles;
they will run and not grow weary,
they will walk and not be faint.

Combined Sports Meet

Sport cells + economic brain ==> I sold out a FULL box of fish-ball sticks at the combined sports meet today!!
It was my first and maybe the last time watching sports meet in Temasek Sec. I have a special role in the sports meet -- selling goods as fund-raising for Oversea CIP. Sports meet would start in the afternoon, so I was resting in the morning. But it was only half past nine, I met Sunny outside room and he reminded me the OCIP meeting at ten. Actually I didn't know what I should do after I rushed to school, but not long I found my job, joining fish-balls onto sticks. It's quite fun making fish-ball sticks.
Later we moved to Bedok Stadium and did selling drinks and food. Bedok stadium is quite a small one but arranged two levels of students from each of the four school, Temasek, Chung Cheng, Dunman, Ngee Ann. No time to watch sport games, I started OICP sale.
I sold HtwoO and GreenTea cans in the first half. Picking out selected cans and refilling cans of drinks, I felt the ice water was freezing cold. As time flied by, teacher found food selling was much slower than drinks. Then most of us were sent to sell food. After rounds, a lot of fish-balls were left. Teacher asked me with a Sec 2 boy to sell fish-balls. I was, 硬着头皮, accepted the task. "Fish-balls, one for one coupon!" As we walking around we shouted. From the side of Sec 2, all the way to the other end of Sec 3, I sold, he collected coupons. It was quite successful, we sold out most half. It was the last fifteen minutes before sports meet ended. Teacher told us we will sell as a rate of two sticks of fish-balls for one coupon. I discussed with my partner, we changed the words into "Fish-balls, buy one get one free!" Seemed more attractive, right? No more than five minutes, all Fish-balls sold out!
Though I did not have chance to watch the sports meet for minutes, but I still enjoyed. As my first time of selling, I experienced and understood the hardness of business. By the way, our school won the cheer competition, I think most of us cheered like siao! That is our school.
